Dare to Blossom Monthly Circles on Zoom - with the link for next Monday

I am sending the newsletter early as the first Monday gathering of 2024 is on 29th January at 7.30 pm (UK time). As there may not be much time between you reading this and that event, here is the Zoom link in case you would like to join us. We simply share a quiet safe space together, where I draw Dare to Blossom Cards for each of us, and take us on a Magic Carpet Ride guided visualisation.

The February dates are Saturday 10th at 11.00 am, and Monday 26th. The rest of the dates for 2024 are on the website if you are someone who likes to plan ahead.

Reflections: Silence

My first response to seeing the card for February was - more blues! I went back and pulled out Angels and Silence to check what I thought I could see in the photo here. Yes, they are very slightly different shades of what I see as a soft turquoise blue/green. Angels from the Original Deck, and Silence from the No 2 Deck.

If you would like to join me in reflection, ask yourself the questions here - for either or both these words, whatever you wish to choose, and write in your journal. Or, if you prefer, read on and come back later.

  • What is your first response? To the word? To the colour?
  • What else is there?
  • And, what else?
  • What does Silence add to Angels and to Beauty? How do the colours connect together?

What else is there?

Silence - 'is Golden', in the words of the song. I am not sure how often I experience true silence, if ever. The silence of nature usually has the wind, the sea, the birds singing, and much more within it. Just now, I am equating Silence with Peace - as if I could, if I choose, drop in the centre point of the Compass Rose, into my centre point, and find that silence there, within me. A silence that enables me to hear the voice of my inner wisdom.

And, what else?

I decided to take a photo of the three cards so far, my word of the year, Beauty, and those for January and February. As you may know, I frequently draw three cards, for myself, for people in one to one coaching, and in the Zoom sessions for each of us. So this triad, these three cards in this arrangement, feel as if they have a significance for me - even it I cannot yet describe what that may be. As I often say to people, there are no rights or wrongs in this process, simply what is here, now, for you, and for me. When I look at these three words next time, either in this image, or in the circular spread for the year, I will see something different.

What does Silence add to Angels and to Beauty? How do the colours connect together?

Still, it is the colours that are standing out for me today, rather than the words. I see the shades of a calm sea in the summertime, turquoises where the seabed is sandy, darker blue over rocks or seaweed.

I choose to simply sit with the colours, imagining myself back on the clifftop amongst the spring flowers, sitting in the warm sunshine.

One to One Coaching

For many people, the deeper connection of one to one sessions is perfect for them once in a while, either for a short block of six, or an on-going arrangement as and when required. People often make big breakthroughs in one or two sessions, and then return for a 'booster' whenever is right for them.

I would love to have a Zoom chat with you over a cuppa.  There is no pressure, simply an opportunity to find out what would be useful for you, and if my approach would be good for you.

You can read testimonials here on my website. Simply reply to this email to ask more or to book a Zoom chat.

Early thoughts on new writing

I remember when I began writing the book that became Your Compass Rose Speaks, having begun life with a succession of different titles, I shared a number of times, here and elsewhere that I was working on my next book. Then it took a very long time, probably five years in fact, before it was actually published.

So I hesitate to share the very tiny, tender shoots of new ideas that are beginning to emerge for me. They feel very vulnerable, in the same way that the first leaves of a plant emerging early in the year now, here in Cornwall, may be blasted by a hard frost or battered by a hailstorm.

However, I very much appreciate the support of each of you who continues to subscribe here - and those of you who may see this later on my blog pages, and I know you will treat my green shoots with kindness.

There isn't actually much to share yet. To continue the botanical metaphor, the tiny emerging leaves are still at the stage where it is hard to decide what plant they will become as they grow. The themes that are arising for me just now are about a series of reflections, or maybe they could be called essays, or simply chapters - about my past, present, and future self. "Diving for Light, Diving for Joy, Diving for Life" - these are some of those themes. Something about venturing into those hidden places - of memory, of connections, of the sub-conscious, of myth and legend too, and simply seeing what I find, and what I choose to bring back and weave into words, into a story.

Now I am smiling as the Silence card feels perfect, I am sure there is treasure in that too, in sitting quietly and simply noticing what arises, what chooses to flow through my fingers into my journal or onto the screen.

This very early wax painting sits by my desk - although I had to hunt for it amongst all the other beautiful images (mine and those created by others) that are also stacked there for inspiration. I wanted to find the original as well as share an image here with you, as it has always been an aide to meditation for me. Maybe I will use it to inspire my deep dive for stories to share?

I send wishes for health and happiness for you and all you love.

Thank you for joining me here this month, any thoughts, feedback, or questions are always welcome.
