February 2023 - Focus, and Angels

Reflections: Focus, and Angels

This year, prompted by several friends, I chose to create a twelve month spread using the Dare to Blossom Rediscovery Cards, around the word of the year I had already picked - Presence. This happens to be one of the words in the No 2 Deck (which has just celebrated the first anniversary of when I received the decks and began sending them out around the world), which is good.

If you read the January newsletter you may remember that I shared some reflections on Presence there.

As I didn't do this until almost the middle of January, I have two cards to share with you this month: Focus for January, and Angels for February. I will consider them here one at a time.

It feels good to ask myself, and you if you would like to join me, the questions here:

  • What is your first response? To the word? To the colour?
  • What else is there?
  • And, what else?
  • What does Focus add to Presence? How do the colours add to each other?

And so, for me, when I ask myself those questions about Focus, here are the words that flow:

"What does Focus add to Presence?" (I have chosen not to take the questions in the order above - and of course you can choose to juggle them up or skip them, whatever feels right for you today.)

"What does Focus add to Presence? Focus reminds me to be present, to simply Be. To stand in my centre point, in peace, and to ground and balance there. To allow myself to experience Presence. Sometimes I think about that word as something I want to project out to others, something I want them to perceive about me - yet, if  do not allow myself to experience that, why would they?

The deep blue feels strong yet peaceful at the same time. I find myself thinking I 'should' check back with last month to see what I wrote there about Presence. Then I catch myself using that 'should' word, and remind myself that I could choose to do that. For now I choose to continue writing here.

Now I see I have already been using the qualities of Focus, and the clear blue. Literally choosing to focus in on what I am writing here and not side-tracking myself. Together those two shades of blue, of Presence, and Focus, bring a calm, settled feeling for me.

And now to the card for the new month ahead, for February: Angels. Another shade of blue, this time a soft turquoise.

You may like to ask yourself the questions again, or choose just one as I did for Focus.

My first response was to smile, Angels - reminding me not to take myself too seriously. Reminding me that there are no rights or wrongs in any of this, simply a gentle exploration. My responses - and your responses - are simply what is present here today. Next time I look at these cards they will have different messages for me.

I will look forward to sharing a card each month from this spread as we wend our way through 2023. If you would like your own Dare to Blossom Rediscovery Cards, either the Original Deck and/or the No 2 Deck, you can order here.  Please be aware that right now the Royal Mail are not accepting any international packages due to a recent cyber attach - hopefully the new system will be available soon.

"Weaving Shadow and Light" Programme rescheduled to begin on 6th February

As often happens in at the beginning of the year, many of us, including me, are really not ready to dive into activity in January. And so, even though there were people keen to join me for The first six-week turn around the Compass Rose, "Weaving Shadow and Light", I have set the start date back a few weeks, to 6th February.

I am also experimenting with a new time for the live Zoom gatherings - 4.00 pm on Fridays, which is a more 'sociable' time for those of you in the USA or Canada - 11 am Eastern time, and 8 am Pacific There is one more taster circle, on Friday 27th January at this time. Simply reply to this email to request the Zoom link for this event if you would like to join us.

The overarching theme of "Weaving Shadow and Light" is about appreciating all those parts of ourselves, and maybe especially the ones we judge as 'not good enough', 'bad', 'unacceptable' - we can offer ourselves any number of negative and harsh responses. In nature all the contrasts are a part of the whole: night and day; summer and winter; hot and cold.

If you see my posts on Facebook or Instagram you may already have seen this photo - I love the beauty created by the shadows of the clouds and their reflections in the wet sand.

The full information, programme and booking details are
on the website here . The fee for the six weeks is £144, you can choose to pay via PayPal or bank transfer. I can arrange for you to do that in two instalments if that helps you. (And don't forget that if you have participated in previous programmes I offer you a discount, just contact me to claim that if you would like to.)

We begin on the weekend of 4th/5th February when I will invite you into the private Facebook group, with our first of the six weekly Zoom gatherings at 4.00 pm UK time on Friday 10th. If that time and day does not work for you - but you are drawn to joining us -
please do contact me to discuss as there is often some flexibility within the group to gather at a different time.

“I have found my sessions with Mary to be a good balance of ideas for the practical things I can do, and the bigger picture reminder of what I want to achieve. This has helped clarify the direction  I want to take and also sparked ideas of how to get there. Mary helps as a reminder to stay true to my experiences and has allowed me to be comfortable with who I am and having balance in life and my work.”

I send wishes for health and happiness for you and all you love.
