Reflections:
Evolving
Life is always
changing: whether we like it or not, change is the only constant....
If you read the February newsletter, you will have seen that this year,
prompted by several friends, I chose to create a twelve month spread using the
Dare to Blossom Rediscovery Cards, around the word of the year I had already
picked - Presence.
Afterwards I realised that it would be fun, and, I hope, interesting to write
about the card drawn for each month here. And so, we come to the card for May -
Evolving. A dark green colour.
It feels good to ask
myself, and you if you would like to join me, the questions here before writing
more. Or, if you prefer, read on and come back later for your own reflections.:
- What is your first response? To the word? To the colour?
- What else is there?
- And, what else?
- What does Evolving add to Presence? How do the colours add
to each other? What do all the words so far bring for you?
Evolving - what is
my first response? My first thought is the words I wrote at the beginning of
this piece: "Life is always changing: whether we like it or not, change is
the only constant...."
My 'word-lover' self sometimes feels critical of the use of the word 'evolving'
to mean almost any change, and often in the context of human beings learning
lessons during their lifetimes.
The classical
definition is: "Evolution is a change in the characteristics of
living things over time. Evolution occurs by natural selection. Characteristics
of organisms are passed from one generation to the next through their genes."
However, one of the
dictionary definitions I have just read is "When something evolves, it
changes, or develops over time, like your taste in music and clothes, which
evolve as you get older. Evolve comes from the Latin word evolvere, 'to unroll'."
Something chimes for
me with that last piece, 'to unroll'. So much is happening in my life just now
that feels like unrolling, or even unravelling - and not in an entirely
comfortable way, something I may share more about another time.
The colour? The dark green feels a powerful connection to the energy of nature,
of spring here in this part of the world. An invitation to rest, to be in the
deep green abundance of the months to come. Whether I think of it as evolving
or not, the natural world is different every year. Here in Cornwall spring has
been colder than usual so everything is blossoming late, with a big whoosh of
energy and growth - especially the weeds.
What else is there? There is a thought at the back of my mind, one I cannot yet
fully articulate. Something about the evolving, the change, not only being a
natural part of life, but also a gift that I may not recognise at first. And
that is fine. As I often say there are no 'rights or wrongs' in this process,
simply what is here for me, and for you, in this moment.
What does Evolving add to Presence? Here I have no response at all just now, so
I will simply be with the question and see if anything emerges.
Book
news
Thank you to
everyone who has already bought a copy of Your
Compass Rose Speaks: Rediscover Your Inner Wisdom, either direct
from me or online.
I would be very grateful if you would like to write a review. I know from my
own experience that I often intend to do this, and then never get around to it
- yet I do my best and I know that is all I can ask of you, and thank you in
advance if you do find the time. It will be very much appreciated.
If you do write a review, please will you send me a link when it is online? You
can do that simply by replying to this email, or through the contact form here. Alternatively,
rather than posting on GoodReads or Amazon, you can email it to me with your
permission to share it - and how you would like to be acknowledged.
As you see below, I now have plenty of stock to send you a signed and dedicated
copy, or you can buy online wherever you prefer to purchase your books.
There is an ebook in
production now, and I am also recording for an Audible version. A slow process,
and a challenge, although one I am keen to respond to as so many people kindly
said how much they enjoyed hearing me read from the book during the launch
celebrations. Quite a change for me as I can remember when I first began
running workshops and I bought a programme with recorded meditations as I was
not confident enough to even read someone else's words, let alone my own. Maybe
that is another aspect of 'Evolving'?
Here are some glimpses inside the book for you. I am delighted with the designs
that Alice from the Golden Dragonfly Press chose for me to illustrate the
different sections.

Group
programmes this summer
The 'Your
Compass Rose Speaks'
six-week programme is just entering our third week as I write, and
the next opportunity to join me is for one of the shorter, four-week
programmes. This one is timed to end before the school holidays begin here in
England (I know the dates are different if you are in Scotland).
This will be on the theme of 'Space
to Be: Space to Breathe'. There are two taster gatherings
on Wednesdays 7th and 14th June at 11.00 am UK time (the events are on
Facebook, or simply reply to this email to book a place and receive the Zoom
link. We will start week beginning 19th June, with the weekly Zoom circles on
Wednesdays at 11.00. If you prefer not to be on Facebook, this is a good one to
take part in as the content is deliberately very light and so easy to send you
by email instead if you wish. As the title suggests, this is an opportunity to
offer yourself space, and to deepen into that in whatever way feels perfect for
you.
All the details are on the website here, the fee
for the four weeks is £99, and you can arrange to pay in two instalments if you
wish.
People have asked for advance notice of what will be happening during the
summer: I am hosting a 'Time
for You' six-week Compass Rose programme. Even though many
people are busy at this time of summer holidays and family gatherings, that can
be just when it is most important to allocate at least a little time, even if
simply the one hour a week for our Zoom calls, just for you.
In addition - for other people this can be a time of feeling lonely and a
little lost, friends and family who you would normally spend time with may be
away or busy. Regular routines may be disrupted, and so this structure of the
weekly and daily flow of prompts in our turn around the Compass Rose, and the
weekly live gatherings can be particularly valuable.
I will add the details to the website soon, and there will be at least one
taster session, depending on the day I choose - which will partly depend on
you, so if this appeals to you and my regular slot of 11.00 am on Wednesdays is
not convenient, please do get in touch We will start in the week beginning 24th
July.
One to One Coaching
For many people, the deeper connection of one to one sessions is perfect for
them once in a while, either for a short block of six, or an on-going
arrangement as and when required.
Either way, I would love to have a Zoom chat with you if you would like to
explore the option of one to one coaching with me. There is no pressure, simply
an opportunity to find out what would be useful for you, and if my approach
would be good for you.
If you click on the 'Book Now' Passionflower, it will take you
straight to my calendar to book a twenty minute complimentary call. If you
prefer, to read more about the Rediscovery Coaching process
click here, Current pricing is £45 for
thirty minutes and £90 for a one hour session.
“I have found my
sessions with Mary to be a good balance of ideas for the practical things
I can do, and the bigger picture reminder of what I want to achieve. This
has helped clarify the direction I want to take and also sparked ideas
of how to get there. Mary helps as a reminder to stay true to
my experiences and has allowed me to be comfortable with who I am and
having balance in life and my work.”
You can read more testimonials here
on my website.
I send wishes for health and happiness for you and all
you love.
Thank you for joining me here this month, any thoughts, feedback, or questions
are always welcome.
